Met My Preceptor

It took all week to set this up .First I had to go through Baylor education ,signed HIPA papers and privacy disclosure papers regarding any business I may be privy to that was Tuesday .I meet my preceptor today .Rita J Fowler,RN,MSN,CCRN,CNA,BC Clinical Director 4 Truett medical ICU ,Hemodialysis ,4 West Transplant ICU ,Bone Marrow Transplant ICU . We meet for 30 minute .My first day will start at 5am she is having a staff meeting in the Bone Marrow transplant unit .The day will go on from there to several meetings. I did not discuss my personal goals as I am not sure what they are .This truly will be a transition for me because I have always enjoyed the clinical aspects of nursing especially pt .interaction .I know I want to know what a director /manager does .I have always thought this is more work than I would like to put into any career . At Baylor supervisors in a given unit takes care of time and attendance , employee evaluations, and deals with the day to day running of the unit . I think the director manages the supervisors . This is one of my goals to find out just what do you do for 12 hours to 15 hours at work . This will be my oportunity to find out .
